Oh haaai! So this is my first post of 2012 and I've been rushed off my feet. I've been working a contract since the day after boxing day and I get to finish it this week so I thought I'd take the time to say hello, merry xmas and a happy new year. I considered doing a retrospective of 2011 but I don't think I have the patience or the time so instead, for now, I'm going to share something with you.

I was asked to put away my iPhone and use the new HTC Sensation XE for the last month to see how it worked for me and would fit in my life and although it felt like giving up my only child, the transition from iPhone to HTC wasn't as hard as I'd anticipated.

If I'm honest it's not unlike my iPhone in regards to it's touch screen capabilities, the apps that allow me to check my Facebook, Twitter and Gmail quite simply and the camera is particularly excellent because it has preset effects already within the camera so you don't have to download an app which either costs money or takes a bit of time. The only thing I'd say I wasn't too keen on about this phone is the clutter of it all. The menus and sub menus are a little too much for me. I like simplicity in every aspect of technology and life - a simple layout and easily understood format is a lot more of an accomplishment and appealing than option after option after option followed by ten more options before the next five options displaying the last final option which is an option that you didn't even opt for. I do not enjoy this experience too much.

The camera looks pretty slick though and seems to be quite rugged without me having to buy a case in order to protect it. My iPhone is a constant source of paranoia and worry and over protectiveness. I'm pretty sure that if I had a child it'd be less difficult to maintain.

Oh and the final amazing thing that made me soooo happy and has forfilled a 7 year long dream of mine. YOU CAN TRANSFER YOUR CONTACTS FROM ONE PHONE TO THE HTC USING BLUETOOTH! NowI may just be utterly idiotic and this may be a feature on most phones that I'm unaware of but here is a lady who has had to transfer numbers individually and manually everytime she has ever changed her phone so this was delightful!

I also got these Beats Audio headphones with it to try out too.

These are pretty cool - they block out background sounds when I'm listing to my music so I don't have to battle with the noisy teens on the bus playing their (shit) music out loud, however I do have to take them out my ears whilst crossing the road because I'm paranoid that my not hearing everything is a little bit dangerous!

If I hadn't got an iPhone last year I'd have gotten one of these phones - it's pretty much exactly the same with a few difference. You can access all the social networking sites you're likely too, you can listen to the radio and all your music but most importantly for me - it has a brilliant camera as proven today when I made this!!!

I have completely neglected this blog, my website and my tumblr for a month and I feel ashamed! So here I am, back and ready to bore you further. The studio is finally set up to shoot in after a whole month of working my arse off with a paint brush and sand paper - I've so far done a few shoots in there but my favourite was yesterday's test with Kitty Ella Jarrett. This was a shoot to involve my new interns and to get the ball rolling with more creative shooting.

It was a great day with BEAUTIFUL shoes and great people. I will begin to post images again shortly to show you what I've been up to and what I've been shooting. :)

Style Birmingham Live

Life has been crazy but in a fantastic productive without sleep kind of way. Since my last post I found my studio space and am currently in the middle of pimping it out but I'll fill you in about that in another post. This particular post is about last weekend when Style Birmingham Live 2011 hit Birmingham with George Lamb and a great creative team. I was lucky enough to be invited by the Bullring to shoot their catwalk for the Redefinition show and also by Benjamin Ryan Hair Salon to shoot backstage and catwalk at the Town Hall. It was crazy. The kind of madness that may look chaotic but has structure. It was my first time backstage at a catwalk show and I have now gained even more respect for catwalk models. They're cool collected and perfect on the catwalk but as soon as they walk backstage they literally have to leg it over to their station to get changed and poke and prodded by hair and make up before running back out within a matter of minutes.

Anyway - here are a collection of a few images from the three days that left me with over one thousand images. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Yesterday we travelled over to Shugborough Hall in Stafford to shoot some 18th Century badness. I REALLY wanted to put on a dress but the practicality of it all dragged me back to my senses. As always - here's some behind the scenes.

Twenty four hours in the life..

This weekend was hard graft let me tell you - the week itself involved prep work for shoots coming over the next month so when the weekend arrive it beat my ass. Saturday evening i was called in to cover the Birmingham Punx Picnic which made for a massive collection of colourful and crazy photos. I love covering the punk gigs - despite the moshing, beer spilling, effing and the blinding - they're a fantastic group of people.

Than i had to run over to Zombie Prom after a weekend off and run around like a crazy person there too. Didn't capture as much porn as I usually like to though...

Then as always there was futher running over to the Afterparty where my housemate working behind the bar fell and split her arm open but not before allowing me to take these images...

After bringing the wounded housemate home I had a mere hour before I had to go shoot a music video for Shapes so got into my pyjamas for literally ten minutes because getting ready and then spend the following eleven hours shooting a music video with two other cinematographers.

This all worked out to be a straight twenty four hour working day. I still feel sick.

Earlier this year I did a shoot for I am generic which started off nice as pie but typically as always the weather went shit and we had to move indoors. This is an out take from the day with a wonderful team of models, make up artist and creative director. We made do with what we were left with but I'm looking forward to shooting for them again.

The Weekend

The weekend is over - as per most weekends, I was booked to take photographs of people enjoying themselves via good alcohol, a nice atmosphere and great music. This combination usually leaves me with an 'interesting' or as I like to call it incriminating collection of photographs. It's gotten to the point where I'm tempted to make a book full of said photos - I imagine it to be like one of those sex books that hollywood prostitutes have of all their customers that include state politician, celebrities and even presidents... well maybe mine collections are not as interesting or as important as that but believe me I've got some blackmail worthy photos on my hard drive. The images below, however, are not so incriminating - everybody seemed to behave this time round. BORE.

Now I have a week of planning some commissions, viewing studio spaces and wondering where my afro comb went.

So I decided to make a 'real' blog with some of my work, behind the scenes images and stories and whatever else - maybe you'll find it interesting. I will still be running my tumblr but I wanted a little more control over a blog so came here.

Let's start off with the video shoot I attended two weeks ago with Tiger Bam productions alongside creative director Krishan Parmar. This was a fun time but I felt like an embarrassed child - the videos theme lay around the ideas of sexuality and sexual preference and the video itself was raunchy to say the least, I didn't know where to look! Childish I know but for some reason I had that feeling you get when watching a film with your parents a sex scene comes on and you don't know what to do with yourself. I ended up riding a bike around the set.
